For the past few years, I have been freelancing as a graphic and web designer, creating visuals and landing pages for a wide variety of clients.

One project included a cybersecurity book, “Jumpstart Your SOC Analyst Career” by Tyler Wall and Jarret Rodrick. This experience unexpectedly introduced me to cybersecurity, sparking my interest in the field.

Working on the book, I had to understand complex cybersecurity concepts to depict them visually. This process, while challenging, made me realize the importance and depth of cybersecurity. It wasn’t just about making things look good; it was about conveying critical information in an understandable way.

One concept that caught my attention was “threat hunting” — actively searching for hidden threats in a network. The strategic and proactive nature of this task resonated with me, highlighting the dynamic and engaging aspects of working in cybersecurity.

This blog will document my transition from graphic design to cybersecurity, focusing on becoming a SOC analyst. I’ll share practical insights, learning experiences, and how I’m applying my design skills in a cybersecurity context.

I aim to provide straightforward, useful content for others interested in or currently navigating a similar career transition. Expect posts on essential skills, key concepts in cybersecurity, and real-world applications of what I’m learning.

Join me in this journey, share your experiences, and let’s explore the multifaceted world of cybersecurity together. This is about cutting through the noise and getting to the core of what it takes to move into and succeed in cybersecurity.
